Last week Kimia and I visited our collaborators at Bielefeld University, including Dr Öncü Maraci, with whom we are working on the links between physiological markers during migration (e.g. mitochondrial function and hormones) and microbiome composition. This work is part of Kimia’s MSc project.
In addition to discussing this and other ongoing projects (also with Prof. Dr Barbara Caspers and Dr Nayden Chakarov), Kimia successfully extracted the DNA for 16S sequencing for her project.
We are now looking forward to receiving the sequencing results and starting to explore this exciting dataset!
